what i did

y'all know how much i love to 'redo' old things.  well i found another project.  earlier this summer i took a trip to see aunt kim back in amish country and found this beautiful jelly cabinet.  made with square head nails and with all the original wood.  loooooove it.  i had to find a way to make it work in our house, so here is what i did!

1) found old plates that had some curves to it
2) primed and spray painted with high gloss white
3) cleaned the cabinet and used an oil just to help restore it (no sanding or painting)
4) stappled fabric inside the doors
5) put it together inside
6) crammed everything i could into it!!

this is with my wide angled lense, everything in the picture i have 'restored'...cool.

peace and quiet

here is the finished product.  eric snapped a few pictures with his camera.  it looks really cool.  fully equipped with a pulley and bucket, a chalkboard wall inside, built in seat and working windows.  we will have to repaint soon.  ha!  maybe it will buy us a few hours of peace and quiet.

little artists

the kids each were able to paint a side of the tree house before they were put up.  we just grabbed any old paint we had and let them at it.  kambel was the only one who wanted me to paint her name.  our little artists.

progress will follow

when eric came home halfway through his deployment, he and the kids started talking about making a tree house.  they got the plans drawn up and fun ideas floating around.  now that he is home the fun has begun.  you can imagine the air around here.  the progress will follow.

hand holding

well it happened.  kambel jude went to kindergarten round up a few weeks ago.  wow.  can't believe she is going to be in school this coming year!  our little bug hunter and flower picker better learn to sit still!  she loved the round up, she got to tour the school and even take a bus ride.  she and our neighbors son will be starting the same time - thus the hand holding.
